TENNIS COURT RESURFACE – HAMPSHIRE
Tennis court resurface.
Garden update to create a new tennis court and synthetic sports surface.
During the summer of 2018, Fieldform were engaged by a private client to carry out a complete surface renovation of an existing macadam tennis court. The project presented a unique design element to subtly extend the court play area, allowing for a greater run-back from the baseline, and included the construction of a new, bespoke cricket batting end built onto one corner of the renovated facility.
The court surface itself was originally tarmac overlaid with a loose grey/green grit. This was removed and the tarmac reduced, to allow for a new regulating layer of open macadam. The existing drainage was reinstated, and the new court extension constructed to marry-in with the existing court finish levels. New fencing and entrance gates were installed for maintenance access and to provide a formal division between cricket facility and tennis court. The client opted to have a new synthetic turf playing surface which was installed over the new macadam layer and finished with new tennis posts and net.
The bespoke non-turf cricket practice facility was built inline with ECB TS6 standards, and includes a 4m high netted cage system to allow extra height for spin bowling. To create an extended bowlers run up we incorporated access gates off the adjacent tennis court, this clever design maximizes space and ensures the cricket facility can be used by both senior and junior players. The cricket surface was carefully chosen to meet the client’s individual requirements in terms of pace, bounce and turn.
I worked with Fieldform on a particularly different project, we wanted to combine a tennis court with a cricket practice net. They worked through various design options with me using their years of knowledge in the field and were absolutely brilliant about adapting things to exactly what we wanted.
They went out of the box and created bespoke doors that when closed, worked to close off the tennis court and when open became part of the walls for the cricket net. It meant we could have the cricket run up on the tennis court to reduce the size of the cricket net. The tennis court is used as an astro for football in winter months so it is all used to the maximum. We love it all - brilliant!
Fieldform were professional from the beginning to the end of the project, and still come back to maintain the facility and check we are still happy, I could not recommend them more highly.
