Surface Improvement – Breathing New Life into School Sport

Fieldform were appointed by Maiden Erlegh School in Reading to refurbish two blocks of hard standing tennis and netball courts. The goal of the project was to significantly improve tired facilities to create areas that can be used for a variety of sports throughout the year.

Works carried out by Fieldform included:

  • Construction of a new access including retaining wall
  • Jet washing and power brushing of the existing surface
  • Fencing re-modelling
  • Installation of new sunken sockets for netball
  • Regulation of the existing macadam surface
  • Macadam overlay using specialist sports specific material
  • Colour coating
  • Line marking to create areas for both tennis and netball

Due to limited access for plant and machinery we worked closely with the School to build a temporary entrance for all deliveries and heavy plant movements. Other challenges included ensuring the surfacing works were complete within the summer holidays and working with an existing surface that was outside tolerances set by Sport England.

We are delighted with the refurbishment and hope the pupils enjoy using the improved courts.
